Poetry symposium held at Kalagram on Hindi Diwas
Tricity poets captivate audience with their poetic gems
Chandigarh 14 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, celebrated across the country, renowned poets from the Tricity mesmerised literature enthusiasts through their emotions and ideas at a poetry symposium held at Kalagram in Chandigarh on Monday. Organized by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, under Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the event featured some of the acclaimed poets from the Tricity reciting their poetic compositions, lyrical songs. to a packed like sardines auditorium, echoing with applause. Prominent among the distinguishedpoets who presented their literary pearls included Shams Tabrezi, Rajbir Deswal (poet and author), Dr. Shayam Sakha Shayam, Dr. Ashok Kumar (Head of the Hindi Department, PU, and Dr. Sangeeta Sharma Kundra ‘Geet’ a poetess par excellence. The poems doled out by these doyens of Hindi literature reflected varied themes and thoughts ranging from patriotism, social concerns, the nuances of relationships, and the fast changing ways of the world.
The programme started with Poetess Dr Sangeeta Sharma Kundra 'Geet', rendering her self-composed poetic nugget. Her deep love for the Hindi language was explicitly reflected in her composition. "Hindi se hi preet hai, Hindi se sangeet, Hindi ke hi raag se , madhur bane sabh geet..." Up next was renowned poet Shams Tabrezi, who doled out his composition in a typical tongue-in-cheek style, which was greeted with huge applause. "Ghar ke kuchh kaam hain, so Dilli ki taiyyari hai,
Car daftar ki hai aur tour bhi sarkari hai..."
Dr Ashok Kumar 'Aas' dedicated his composition to Maa... (Mother and Hindi literature) ""Maa...sach mano, tere charno mein maine Bhagwan ko paya hai, har ghari rahe angg sang mere jeevan mein tera saya rahe..."
Dr Shayam Sakha Shayam, a multi-lingual poet and prose writer, recited the following verse in his inimitable style" Fal likhna ki paan likhna, gehun likhna ya dhaan likhna, Punjabi, Urdu, Tamil, Udiya jubaan likhna, kagaz pe chahe jo bhi likhna dil par, lekin Hindi Hindustan likhna..." Renowned poet and author Rajbir Deswal recited his composition which spoke about his unique style of delivery "Ab iss shav siahi ko roshnai do, kalam do isko ashnai do, iss andhere mein dum ghutta hai mera mujhe sukun do, gum se rihai do..."
Dr. Ashwin M. Dalvi, Director, NZCC, on the occasion stated that Hindi was not merely a medium of communication, but a lasting link that unites the country's diverse cultures, ancient traditions and dominant human emotions. He further said that Hindi was not just a language per se; it was a sentiment that binds the entire nation together, adding that such events provided an opportunity to connect the new generation to the rich Hindi literature and India's cultural heritage.
