Govardhan Puja Observed During Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, Chhappan Bhog Offered to Lord Krishna
Swami Dhanwantri Das Ji Maharaj narrated the glory of Govardhan and Lord Krishna’s childhood pastimes; devotional chants of ‘Giriraj Maharaj Ki Jai’ echoed through the Katha pandal
S.A.S.Nagar 2 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The ongoing Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Shri Sanatan Dharam Mandir, Phase-4 witnessed a deeply devotional atmosphere as the episode of Govardhan Puja and the childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna were narrated with great faith and devotion. On the occasion, Chhappan Bhog comprising 56 varieties of food offerings was offered to Lord Krishna, while devotees performed Govardhan Puja and raised devotional slogans. Swami Dhanwantri Das Ji Maharaj, who has arrived from Vrindavan, narrated various childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna through the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha and presented the episode of Govardhan Leela before the devotees. He explained how Lord Krishna inspired the people of Braj to worship Govardhan Hill and highlighted its significance in the lives of the people and cattle of Braj.
Swami Dhanwantri Das Ji Maharaj also narrated the divine episode of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan Hill on his little finger. Devotees listened to the narration with deep devotion. The Katha pandal reverberated with chants of “Govardhan Maharaj Ki Jai,” “Shri Krishna Bhagwan Ki Jai” and “Radhe-Radhe.” On the occasion of Govardhan Puja, 56 varieties of traditional food preparations were offered to Lord Krishna at the temple. Devotees offered different delicacies at the feet of the Lord as an expression of their devotion.
Shri Sanatan Dharam Mandir Phase-4 chief priest Lucky Sharma, along with other priests, contributed to the religious arrangements. Temple committee members including President Deshraj Gupta, Co-Vice President Raj Kumar Kalia, Vice President Satish Kumar, General Secretary Raj Kumar Sharma, Cashier Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Anshul Bansal and Sanjeev Sharma alias Bobby, along with other members, contributed to the arrangements. The Mahila Mandal, led by President Dinesh Chandan, also extended active support. Indra Rani, Pushpa Sharma, Rajkumari, Shashi, Neelam and Archana, along with other members, contributed to arrangements for devotees, including prasad and other services.
After the Katha, Mahaprasad and a continuous Bhandara were organised, in which a large number of devotees participated. Members of the temple committee, Mahila Mandal and other volunteers rendered their services with devotion. A large number of devotees continue to attend the ongoing Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Shri Sanatan Dharam Mandir Phase-4 every day and listen to the religious discourse by Swami Dhanwantri Das Ji Maharaj, immersing themselves in devotion to Lord Krishna.
