Barnala lathi-charge on sanitation workers exposes AAP’s anti-worker face : Raja Warring

Barnala lathi-charge on sanitation workers exposes AAP’s anti-worker face : Raja Warring Chandigarh 22 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring lashed out at the Bhagwant Mann government on Wednesday over police lathi-charge on protesting sanitation workers in Barnala, calling it yet another proof of the ruling party’s anti-worker mindset. Condemning the police action, Warring said it was appalling that the very people responsible for keeping Punjab’s towns and cities clean were beaten with batons simply for raising basic, legitimate demands. He expressed severe concern over reports that several women workers were injured in the clash, calling such force completely unacceptable in a democracy. “The Aam Aadmi Party built its campaign on promises of a government for the common man. Yet, every group that dares to speak up whether it’s unemployed youth, contractual staff, MGNREGA workers, farmers, or now sanitation workers is met with police bato...

Chandigarh 22 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring lashed out at the Bhagwant Mann government on Wednesday over police lathi-charge on protesting sanitation workers in Barnala, calling it yet another proof of the ruling party’s anti-worker mindset.

Yet, every group that dares to speak up whether it’s unemployed youth, contractual staff, MGNREGA workers, farmers, or now sanitation workers is met with police batons,” Warring said. He accused the Mann administration of routinely relying on intimidation to silence dissent instead of sitting down to talk.

“The government’s first instinct is force, not dialogue. It shows a complete lack of empathy for people who are just asking for justice,” he added. Demanding an impartial, high-level probe into the Barnala incident, the Congress leader called for strict action against any officers who used excessive force. He urged the state to ensure immediate medical care for those injured and to open talks with the workers' unions without delay. “Punjab deserves a leadership that listens, not one that relies on fear and police force to suppress its own citizens,” Warring said, assuring the sanitation workers that the Congress party stands firmly behind them in their fight for dignity and fair treatment.
