Disabled people have been demanding Rs 5,000 monthly pension for a long time

S.A.S.Nagar 21 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Physically Handicapped Association, Punjab-Chandigarh has intensified its struggle against the non-fulfillment of promises made by the Punjab Government and has announced to block the Mohali-Chandigarh main road. While discussing various issues related to the disabled during the state committee meeting held at Gurdwara Amb Sahib, the association's chairman, Kashmir Sanawa, accused the Punjab government of honoring every section of society for its own political interests, but failing to fulfill its promises to the state's most vulnerable. He said that the government's breach of promise has caused widespread resentment among the disabled, forcing them to take strong action against the government.

He stated that the government has not taken any concrete steps to ensure the dignity of the disabled, including special employment arrangements for them, so that they can enjoy the same respect and opportunities as normal citizens. He stated that the organization has long fought to protect the rights of the disabled, but their demands are consistently ignored. Consequently, the disabled are grappling with problems such as financial hardship, unemployment, illness, and social tension, and are forced to endure difficult circumstances due to the government's economic policies.

Kashmir Sanawa said that it is extremely unfortunate that the government that disabled people worked day and night to bring to power is now adopting an adamant attitude toward their legitimate demands. He alleged that the Punjab government's policies have forced disabled people to live in conditions akin to beggary. He appealed to all disabled people in the state to actively participate in this movement and be prepared for the struggle.

State President Jaswinder Singh Lalliyan, Patron Harmesh Kurdi, Former State President Balwant Singh Dardi, Mohali District President Dharam Singh Mundi, Mansa President Avinash Sharma, Aseem Goyal, Rajinder Raju, Avtar Singh, Chandigarh President Harvinder Pal, District Secretary Veena Devi, Vice President Vinod Kumar, Navneet Kaur (Nawanshahr) and Satnam Singh Jawanda (Sangrur) along with other office bearers and members were present in the meeting.
