Forest workers angry over non-payment of salaries, send demand letter to Punjab government

Patiala/Chandigarh 30 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Subordinate Services Federation (1406/22B) In line with the decision of the state committee of the Forest Workers Union Punjab, the only union organization of forest workers affiliated to Chandigarh, to submit a memorandum to the government from July 27 to July 30, a massive protest was held by the Forest Workers Union in front of the office of the Forest Division, Patiala, Wildlife Division, Patiala under the chairmanship of Division President Jaswinder Singh Sauja, Ser Singh Sirhind, Jagtar Singh Sahpur, Bhupinder Singh Sadhoheri and Joga Singh Wajidpur. Despite the scorching heat this morning, a large number of forest workers, armed with their flags, mottos and banners, reached the protest site with full enthusiasm and shouting slogans.

Addressing the protest, Punjab Subordinate Services Federation leaders Darshan Singh Belumajra, Lakhwinder Khanpur, Jasvir Singh Khokhar, Dharampal Singh Lot and Rajpal Singh Lasoi said that the Punjab government is not making permanent the workers who have been working in the Forest and Wildlife Department for 30/30 years. By making only a placement policy, they are making a cruel joke with the forest workers by giving them work in the department for 58 years at a salary of 15 thousand. The families of forest workers are worried as daily wase workers in the department have not been paid their salaries for the last five months. The government, which promised to provide employment to the people, has not made a single forest worker permanent despite the passage of almost 4 years. Due to which there is a lot of anger and unrest among the forest workers. Forest workers staged a protest in front of the office of the Forest Divisional Officer, Patiala and A memorandum was sent to the Punjab Government through the Honorable IFS Forester South Circle Patiala and the Honorable Deputy Commissioner Patiala and the Forest Divisional Officer Wildlife Patiala and the Forest Divisional Officer Patiala. They decided that if the government did not pay salaries to the forest and wildlife workers, and did not make the unskilled workers permanent by terminating their 10 years of continuous service in the forest and wildlife department, salaries were not paid for five months, not preparing the seniority list by the year 2026 and not addressing other demands, so, on the upcoming 10th August, we will hold a protest demonstration at the Van Bhawan office in Mohali and permanent front will be launched on August 17 after a massive state-level protest in Dirba constituency against the Finance Minister Punjab. This forest workers' protest will continue until the demands of the forest workers are met. Among others who participated in this protest were Naresh Kumar Bosar, Bhinder Ghagga, Gurmail Bammana, Amarjit Singh Lachhru Kala, Jaswant Singh, Ranveer Mulepur, Gurdev Kaur, Gurmail Singh Bishanpura, Samser Asmanpur, Inderjit Kaur Chupki, Jasvir Kaur, Kuldeep Singh, Hakam Khan, Sadiq Khan, Jagpal Singh, Budh Singh, Jagtar Sudhewal, Satnam Singh Sauja, Sabdil Singh Kuki, Karnail Kathmathi, Gurjit Singh Patiala, Singara Singh Kathmathi, Jasvir Kaur, Kuldeep Kaur Paramjit Kaur Mangewal, Pali Devi Manjit Kaur Samana etc.
