SAD demands Harjot Bains and Balbir Singh take accountability for paper leaks and resign

SAD demands Harjot Bains and Balbir Singh take accountability for paper leaks and resign (Arshdeep S Kler says six paper leaks have taken place in Punjab in four years affecting five lakh students) Chandigarh 25 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today demanded the resignation of education minister Harjot Bains and health minister Balbir Singh, asserting both ministers should take accountability for paper leaks under their charge in the same manner in which union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan had resigned in the NEET exam paper leak case. In a statement here, party chief spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler said the Aam Aadmi Party should not practice politics of deceit. “There cannot be two yard sticks for the same issue. While on the one hand Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia demanded the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, they have nothing to say about the repeated paper leaks in Punjab and are yet to remove Harjot Bains and Balbir Singh from the St...

Governments Should Listen to the Concerns of the Nation's Youth with Empathy : RaviInder Singh

Congratulates students on the success of their movement

Chandigarh 25 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Patron of Shiromani Akali Dal Punar-Surjeet and former Speaker Ravinder Singh said in a written press statement that the youth are the future of the nation. If they have grievances, they should be heard and their concerns considered with empathy, rather than being suppressed through the use of police force. RaviInder Singh said that the peaceful gathering of young people from across the country at Jantar Mantar to raise their voice for their rights is a positive sign for democracy. Instead of viewing such movements as a challenge, governments should see them as evidence that the country's youth are becoming more aware and responsible. He said that repeated incidents of examination paper leaks have severely shaken the confidence of hardworking students in the system. To restore that trust, the government should have chosen dialogue over the use of police force.

He further stated that despite social activist Sonam Wangchuk risking his life in support of the students, the government could not overcome the movement and ultimately had to accept the students' demands. Had the Education Minister been dismissed earlier to demonstrate accountability, the government could have avoided the resulting embarrassment and atmosphere of unrest. RaviInder Singh added that even now, the government should apologize to the families of students who lost their lives by suicide and to those who were injured due to alleged police action. He urged the government to provide full compensation to the victims and help heal their suffering. He also congratulated the students for conducting such a large-scale movement in a disciplined and peaceful manner and for achieving victory.
