Inauguration of new sewerage pipeline in Sector-42C market: Shopkeepers to get major relief
Chandigarh 24 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A new sewerage pipeline was inaugurated in the Sector-42 C market—falling under Ward No. 24—through the efforts of the area's Councilor and former Senior Deputy Mayor, Jasbir Singh Bunty. The completion of this public-interest project has provided a permanent solution to the long-standing issue faced by shopkeepers regarding obtaining sewerage connections. The work was formally inaugurated with the breaking of a coconut by Shiv Kumar Nagpal (Sanatan Dharma Mandir), Ajay Arora (Market representative), and Rajkumar Sharma, Sajjan Bansal, Amit Mittal, and Neelam Vadhera (RCWA representatives).
Speaking on the occasion, Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty stated that while a drinking water pipeline was already available in the Sector-42 C market, the absence of a sewerage pipeline made it difficult for many shopkeepers—particularly those running restaurants and other food-related businesses—to obtain sewerage connections. Now, with the laying of the new sewerage pipeline, all eligible shopkeepers will be able to easily obtain water and sewerage connections. This will facilitate business operations and further strengthen the cleanliness and sanitation system in the market. He stated that providing better basic amenities to the residents is his top priority, and that development work in the ward, along with initiatives for the public good, will continue uninterrupted in the future.
On this occasion, SDO Yashpal Gupta stated that the sewerage pipeline work would be fully completed within the next 15 days. He noted that the soil would naturally settle well during the current rainy season, thereby enabling the subsequent installation of interlocking paver blocks to be carried out smoothly and with high quality. A large number of prominent citizens, shopkeepers, and local residents—including Pawan Kumar Singla, SDO Yashpal Gupta, Gaurav Sharma, Mukesh Soni, and Tilak Raj—were present on this occasion. Ajay Arora, President of the Market Welfare Association, expressed gratitude to local Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty for this significant development work, noting that the new sewerage pipeline has fulfilled a long-standing demand of the shopkeepers. This will not only facilitate obtaining sewerage connections but also give fresh impetus to the cleanliness, basic amenities, and commercial activities of the Sector-42 C market.
