PSSF supports strike by sanitation workers

S.A.S.Nagar 19 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The state president of the Punjab Subordinate Services Federation, a struggling organization of state employees, Satish Rana, General Secretary Tirath Singh Bassi and Finance Secretary Gurdeep Singh Bajwa, have said in a joint press statement that the sanitation workers in the state have gone on an indefinite strike against the non-fulfillment of their demands and the government's breach of promises, which is fully supported by the organization and it has been announced to further intensify the struggle being waged against the government's anti-employee policies. Giving information in this regard, the state press secretary of the organization, Inderjit Virdi, said that instead of resolving the demands of these sanitation workers through talks, the current government of common people is preparing to impose ESMA on them, which is being strongly opposed by the PSSF.
The leaders of the organization, Karamjit Singh Bihla, Makhan Singh Wahidpuri, Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, said that in the past, the sanitation workers had completely stopped work by going on strike for about a month and due to the pressure of the struggle, no demand was accepted in the meeting held by the government, due to which a call for a strike has been given again. He said that before coming to power, Bhagwant Mann was telling the people of Punjab to question the previous government during his speeches, but now that he himself is in power, those who question the government regarding their demands are being threatened and are being framed in false cases and thrown in jail.
The leaders said that if any harm is caused to the striking sanitation workers, the organization will consider it as its struggle and launch a fierce struggle. The leaders said that a large number of people from across the state will participate in the grand state rally to be organized by the Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front and the Joint Employees Forum in Chandigarh on August 7. The leaders have appealed to the entire working class to support the sanitation workers' strike and to participate fully in the actions they are taking.
