Warring asks Shah on finishing drugs Says, it is like post-dated cheque from a crashing bank Chandigarh 30 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today asked the union Home Minister Amit Shah as to why has he set such a long deadline, till December, 2029, for finishing the problem of drugs in Punjab. “Leave aside Punjab, who knows whether the BJP will be in power at the centre by then, as in all likelihood it will not?”, Warring asked while remarking, "it is like a long post-dated cheque of a crashing bank". He asked why did the BJP government at the centre woke up to the problem of drugs only on the eve of elections. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Chandigarh organises Digital Payments Awareness Program in Village Durana, District Ambala
Chandigarh/Ambala 31 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : RBI Chandigarh, hosted e-BAAT (Electronic Banking Awareness and Training) programme in Village Durana, District Ambala, for approximately 80 participants on July 28, 2026. The programme was conducted by Arun Jindal and Manish Kumar from Banking Department, wherein focus was drawn towards creating awareness about digital payments and secure digital banking practices. Further, Kamalvir Kaur Dhanoa from Consumer Education and Protection Cell (CEPC) also apprised the participants about cyber fraud prevention and grievance redressal mechanisms available for lodging complaints against online frauds.
The programme covered a range of critical topics:- Digital Payment Modes: The speakers emphasized upon the convenience and expansive scope of digital payments focusing on the core message i.e. ‘Thoda Dhyan Se!’ while undertaking online digital transactions through various digital payment modes such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, and AePS.
- Common Digital Frauds: The audience was sensitized to adopt safe digital banking practices and was made aware of the modus operandi of common online financial frauds including Money Mule and Digital Arrest Scam.
- Grievance Redressal mechanisms: The speakers also covered topics including cyber fraud prevention and grievance redressal mechanisms available for lodging complaints against online frauds i.e. Cybercrime Helpline, Banking Ombudsman Scheme and CMS Portal.
Retail Direct scheme and Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC): The audiences were familiarized with the investment opportunity under Retail Direct Scheme and insurance coverage provided by the DICGC for enhanced depositor awareness and protection. The event was concluded by a short Q&A session conducted for the participants. The winners of the quiz were awarded with financial literacy awareness material. The programme was well appreciated by all participants.
