Chandigarh 5 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Former Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, prominent Taksali leader and Patron of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit), Ravi Inder Singh, today reacted strongly to the resolution on Panthic unity read by SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami at the gathering held at Diwan Hall, Manji Sahib. He questioned how a person who is a fugitive from the Hukamnamas of Sri Akal Takht Sahib could present a resolution on unity among Akali factions. He stated that on 2 December 2024, a Hukamnama was issued from the platform of Sri Akal Takht Sahib for Panthic unity, directing that fresh recruitment be undertaken to bring forward new leadership. That was the most precise and appropriate path for Panthic unity. The Panj Singh Sahibaan had also assigned the responsibility of the seven-member committee formed for this recruitment process to Dhami. But instead of obeying the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Dhami colluded with his masters and resigned to sit at home.
Ravi Inder Singh said that if he had even a trace of Panthic sincerity, he would have immediately, with full devotion to the Akal Takht's orders, taken all members along and started the recruitment process, as he had also promised to his fellow members, because after resigning from the SGPC presidency, he had become completely free from Sukhbir Badal's influence. But this was a well-planned conspiracy. Due to this, within a few days, on Sukhbir's instructions, he managed to return to his presidential post but quietly withdrew from the seven-member recruitment committee. On the contrary, he kept making statements that the recruitment committee had been dissolved. If he were genuinely sincere about Panthic unity, he would have given the community a strong Akali Dal under new leadership through fresh recruitment and secured his place in history. But he chose to side with the fugitives of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The bitter stain of having denied the Hukamnamas at that time has already destroyed the community's trust in him.
His conspiratorial nature is also evident from the fact that today, from a common Panthic platform, he did not even mention the fugitives of the December 2 Hukamnamas. This proves that the script for this entire proceedings came from somewhere else, and he used Diwan Hall, Manji Sahib, to get the stamp of approval from all Panthic organisations. Concluding his statement, Ravi Inder Singh appealed to all Panthic organisations and political parties to be wary of these fugitives who are devising strategies to squander the Panthic capital for implementing hukamnamas in their favour, and to also awaken the entire community.
