Serious allegations against the police after the release of Mohanjit Sheron; BJP strongly condemns Punjab government
Responsible police personnel must be immediately dismissed and a criminal case registered against them.
Chandigarh 4 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Senior Punjab BJP leader Hardev Singh Ubbha strongly condemned the alleged police atrocities against Mohanjeet Sheron, stating that the mistreatment of Sikhs and violations of human rights in Punjab would not be tolerated at any cost. He remarked that the incidents surfacing under the Bhagwant Mann government evoke memories of the tyrannical rule of the Mughals. High-handedness, harassment, or the hurting of religious sentiments against any individual on the soil of Punjab is unacceptable.
Hardev Singh Ubbha noted that when the Aam Aadmi Party was in the opposition, it used to advocate for the public and leaders to question the government. However, upon assuming power, the same government has adopted a policy of suppressing the voices of those who ask questions and subjecting them to atrocities. In a democracy, questioning the government is the right of every citizen, not a crime.
Hardev Singh Ubbha demanded that the Punjab Human Rights Commission and the Honorable High Court take immediate cognizance of the matter and order an impartial, rigorous investigation. If the allegations regarding harassment and the desecration of Sikh *Kakars* (articles of faith) by police personnel are proven true during the investigation, the responsible officers must be immediately dismissed and a criminal case registered against them. He affirmed that the BJP would not tolerate any form of atrocity against Sikhs and would raise its voice at every possible level to ensure justice for the victim.
