Law and order in Punjab has completely collapsed; the government is busy hiding its failures: Ayali
Incidents ranging from a broad-daylight murder in Amritsar to shooting incidents in Ludhiana and Dakha have raised questions about the government's performance
Chandigarh 4 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The spate of murders, shootings, extortion calls, and criminal incidents in Punjab has raised serious questions about the state's law and order situation. Targeting the Punjab government over these events, senior Akali Dal leader and Dakha MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali stated that law and order in the state has completely collapsed, yet the government remains engrossed in hiding its failures through official advertising.
MLA Ayali stated that the morale of criminals in the state has risen to such an extent that people now fear for their lives even in broad daylight. He remarked that recent incidents—such as the killing by motorcycle-borne assailants in Amritsar, the shooting death of a former Sarpanch near a canal in Ludhiana, and the fatal shooting of a young man due to a personal feud in village Khanjarwal (Dakha constituency)—have exposed the reality of the state's law and order situation.
Ayali stated that the common citizen of Punjab feels insecure, while the government, instead of protecting the lives and property of the people, is preoccupied with concealing its political failures and loopholes. He remarked that there is a stark contrast between the government's claims regarding law and order and the ground reality. They demanded that the Punjab Police conduct an impartial investigation into these incidents, free from any political pressure, and immediately arrest the actual perpetrators of the murders and shootings. Ayali stated that the government needs to take strict and concrete measures to curb rising crime in the state; otherwise, public confidence in the government and administration will further erode.
