Chandigarh 19 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A meeting of the State Secretariat of the Punjab State Committee of CPI (M), which was held under the Chairmanship of Comrade Major Singh Bhikhiwind, has strongly condemned the privatisation of IDBI Bank to Canada's Fairfax Financial Institution for Rs 53,000 crore by the Modi government at the center through a resolution. CPI (M) State Secretary Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon has said that the decision to privatise IDBI Bank has been taken under the fixed policy of giving Public Sector Banks in the hands of corporates.
After this, the government is also moving towards privatization of other government banks. With this decision of the government, the facilities being provided to the people at cheap rates through government banks will be lost. Alongwith this, the jobs, salaries, pensions and other service conditions of bank employees will be affected. Comrade Sekhon said that the Punjab unit of CPI(M) supports the struggle being waged by the employees of IDBI against the privatisation of the bank and demands the central government to withdraw the decision with immediate effect.
