Revenue Patwar Union Punjab Thanks Chief Minister for Restoring District Cadre, Welcomes Recruitment of 1,001 Patwaris
Union strongly demands a salary hike and technical pay scale for Patwaris recruited after July 17, 2020
Chandigarh 6 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Revenue Patwar Union Punjab, led by its state president Balraj Singh Ojla, held a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club to express its gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government and senior administrative officials for restoring the traditional district cadre of Patwaris and initiating the recruitment process for 1,001 new Patwaris. Addressing the media, state president Balraj Singh Ojla said that in 2024, the government had replaced the traditional district cadre of Patwaris with a state cadre. The union subsequently held constructive discussions with the Chief Minister through senior officials, while maintaining organisational discipline. He explained that the implementation of the state cadre had created several complications relating to fresh recruitment, promotions and legal matters, including court-related hurdles.
Taking note of the union’s concerns and arguments, the Chief Minister adopted a positive approach and decided to abolish the state cadre and restore the district cadre. A gazette notification to this effect has also been issued. The union also welcomed the government’s decision to initiate the recruitment process for 1,001 new Patwaris. During the press conference, the union strongly urged the Chief Minister to immediately increase the salaries of Patwaris who joined service after July 17, 2020, stating that their existing pay was inadequate. It also demanded an appropriate Technical Pay Scale for Patwaris, considering the complex and technical nature of their responsibilities in the Revenue Department. The union maintained that the demands were essential to ensure fair compensation and due recognition of the technical responsibilities shouldered by Patwaris. Those present at the press conference included All India Representative Sumandeep Singh Bhullar, Punjab Representative (Ropar) Gurwinder Singh, Punjab Representative (Mansa) Pradeep Sharma, Mohali District President Saurav Shukla, Sangrur District President Navdeep Singh Sarao, Mansa District President Gunshil Singla and Patiala District President Sukhjinder Singh Khangura.
