Expresses contentment on massive response by Punjabis
Decides to contest Ludhiana By election and Zila Parishad/Panchayat Samiti elections when announced : Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema
Chandigarh 27 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal Parliamentary Board led by party Working President Balwinder Singh Bhunder today reviewed progress of the ongoing recruitment drive of the party and expressed contentment that Punjabis have given massive response to the drive. Giving details about the deliberations at the meeting, SAD senior leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said the party had issued 33 lakh slips for recruitment drive out of which 10 lakh slips have been received back today in the party head office and the rest were likely to received tomorrow, on the last day of the recruitment drive. He also said the party would review the progress of the recruitment drive and take decisions accordingly. He said in the next course of action District Observers would oversee the election of Circle and District delegates who in turn would elect the State delegates after which the new President of the party would be elected in due course of time. Dr. Cheema also disclosed that the party had also asked its leaders and cadres to file their claims/objections for SGPC elections for which the last date was March 15, 2025. He said the party also deliberated on the response received from Gurdwara Election Commission on non-inclusion of Singh/Kaur with names of the voters as it was mandatory according to gurmat maryada. He said the party would seek legal opinion on this matter and re-approach the Commission on this issue. Talking about the Ludhiana by poll and Zila Parishad/Panchayat Samiti polls, the SAD leader said the party would contest these elections. He said AAP had announced its candidate early only to fulfil the wish of party Supremo Arvind Kejriwal to get nominated to Rajya Sabha from Punjab. He also condemned branding/packaging of schemes by the Bhagwant Mann government only to get news published on issues which had already been addressed. He said the decision to implement Punjabi in all schools upto 10th class was taken in 2008 and he as Education Minister had implemented the same in 2015. “Harjot Bains was making hollow claims about the AAP government implementing Punjabi”, he added.EOM
