Bajwa terms newly appointed AG as Kejriwal's puppet.
He would only follow his master's voice instead of safeguarding Punjab's interests: Bajwa
Chandigarh 31 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Monday termed the newly appointed Advocate General, Maninderjit Singh Bedi, a puppet of the Aam Aadmi Party's National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. "Bedi is only 44 years old. He does not have enough experience to get elevated to such a key position. He would probably be the most inexperienced advocate to assume the post of Punjab AG. What qualifies him to hold this position is his proximity to the AAP Supremo. I have serious doubt whether he would be capable of safeguarding Punjab's interests in legal matters. He would only follow his master's voice," Bajwa added. Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that Anu Chatrath had been designated as a senior advocate. Most probably, she has as much experience as the age of Maninderjit Singh Bedi. However, she has been given the position of a senior additional advocate general at the Punjab AG office. Can the AAP government in Punjab explain on what ground Bedi was preferred over Chatrath as Punjab AG? Bajwa said that it is extremely disappointing for Punjab that the AAP government always picks puppets for high-profile jobs instead of hiring deserving candidates. Anu Chatrath must resign in protest against AAP's partial stance. "The AAP has extended the tenure of 215 law officers till April 30, which is nothing but an eyewash. In reality, the AAP is preparing the ground for the entry of approximately 50 law officers, who worked in Delhi with the previous AAP government. By doing so, the AAP government has been completely disregarding the legal expertise of Punjab. I reiterate that these law officers would draw salaries from the Punjab exchequer to fight lawsuits against the AAP leadership," Bajwa stated.
