Chandigarh 31 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today asked the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann about the status of his government’s “war on drugs” (Yudh Nashay Virudh) as the final deadline of May 31 ended today. “Has the war on drugs been won or you have announced a unilateral ceasefire since the deadline has ended today?” he asked the government. The PCC president said on ‘X’ “today is May 31, 2025, the DEADLINE you set for Defeating Drugs in Punjab. Will you please tell us about the status of the ‘War on Drugs’?” “Please tell us, whether the ‘War’ has really been won? Or, is there a CEASEFIRE?” he asked the Chief Minister adding, “if the ‘War’ has really been won, people of Punjab would like you to make the Grand Announcement yourself”. “They would like to hear it from the Horse’s Mouth before they start the celebrations”, he told the Chief Minister, adding, “and if you make the victory announcement yourself, it should be followed by the ‘Victory Parade’”. Later in an informal interaction with reports, Warring asserted that setting unrealistic deadlines for finishing the problem of drugs was done for media ops only as the characteristic way of the AAP’s copybook. He observed that the amount of money the AAP government wasted on the publicity campaign of the ‘war on drugs’ could have been used in setting up more de-addiction facilities for the addicts and patients.
