The milestone surgery was performed on 7-year-old child, Abhijot from Behlan Khanpur in Fatehgarh Sahib district, by a team of doctors led by Dr TS Mahant, Executive Director, CTVS and Dr Rajat Gupta, Senior Consultant, Department of Paediatric Cardiac Sciences, Fortis Hospital, Mohali. The patient was diagnosed with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, a liver cancer spread to nearby lymph nodes and lungs. The patient has shown excellent recovery, is clinically stable, and continues to improve — sending a strong message that cancer treatment is possible at any age with the right expertise and technology.
