Chandigarh 29 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Today, November 29, 2025, an extended meeting of the Joint Employees Front (SKM), a federation of Chandigarh employees and workers, including the Joint Action Committee UT & MC, Joint Employees Welfare Association Sector 32, Joint Employees Committee Sector 16, Joint Action Committee of Teachers, Transport Employees Sangharsh Committee, and All Contractual Employees Union Bharat, was held under the chairmanship of Ashwani Kumar, Rajendra Katoch, Sukhbir Singh, Ashok Kumar, and Shiv Murti Yadav. The main office bearers of the above mentioned organizations participated in the meeting and discussed the demands of the employees in detail and condemned the negative attitude adopted by the Chandigarh Administration on the demands and passed a resolution and decided to start a series of union meetings, general meetings, gate meetings and rallies in different departments with immediate effect and also announced to hold a huge convention on 16th December 2025 at Bhakna Bhawan, Sector 29 and a decisive decision of a direct fight to the finish will be taken in the convention. In the meeting, Vipin Sher Singh of All Contract Employees Federation, Federation President Gopal Dutt Joshi, General Secretary Harkesh Chand, Sector 16, Joint Employees Ranjit Singh, MM Subrahmanyam of Horticulture, Amrik Singh of Electricity, Harpal Singh of MC Public Health, Tarun Jaiswal of Electrical, Veena Kumari of Anganwadi and Creche, Gurpreet Singh of All Contract, Narinder Kumar of GMCH 32, Dalip Singh, Naseeb Singh of MC Manimajra, Kamal Kumar of Horticulture, Om Prakash of Sector 16 etc. expressed their views and announced to participate in large numbers in the convention to be held on 16th December, and announced to continue the joint struggle till all the temporary employees who have completed 10 years are made permanent. The main demands include the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission report and the immediate payment of bonus and all allowances, including ACP (CGHS) to all UT and MC employees. All daily wage, contract, outsourced, and other temporary employees who have completed 10 years of service should be made permanent, and the principle of equal pay for equal work should be implemented until they are confirmed. Daily wage workers recruited after 1996 should also be given basic pay, DA, and other allowances. Outsourced employees should be brought under the department, and the retrenchment decision should be reversed. Creche workers should be reinstated and the vindictive dismissal of seven creche workers and helpers and the retirement orders of five creche workers and helpers should be cancelled. The decision to hand over green belts and parks under the Horticulture Department to societies through MoUs should be reversed. Employees transferred from the Electricity Department to private companies should be accommodated in other administrative departments. Recruitment rules in all departments should be amended, and vacant promotion posts should be filled immediately. The temporary positions should be filled and adjusted for direct recruitment posts. The revised DC rate should be applied to the remaining employees. The decision regarding Face App biometric attendance should be reviewed. The dependents of deceased employees should be given jobs by removing the 5% ceiling. Retired employees should be given pension, gratuity, and other benefits promptly. Salaries of outsourced employees should be paid before the 7th of every month. Finally, on behalf of the leadership board, Federation President Rajendra Katoch congratulated all organizations for forming a massive unity and launching the struggle and warned the administration that if the demands are not resolved quickly, a direct struggle will be announced at the Dharamshala on December 16th.
