Vivek Atray felicitated the winners
Chandigarh 12 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The three-day 14th North India Patisserie Competition 2026 concluded at the Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management (CIHM), Sector 42 with Indian Culinary Institute (ICI) Noida being crowned the Overall Winner. Organised by CIHM in association with US Highbush Blueberry Council, the event witnessed participation from 17 teams representing leading hotel management institutes across seven states of North India.
The Closing and Prize Distribution Ceremony was graced by Vivek Atray (Ex-IAS), eminent motivational speaker who felicitated the winners in the presence of CIHM Principal Vishal Kalia. Addressing the budding chefs, he lauded their passion, discipline and pursuit of excellence, encouraging them to continuously innovate and uphold the highest professional standards. A defining highlight of this edition was the mandatory incorporation of USA Blueberries across all categories. Participants showcased exceptional versatility by creatively using blueberries in frozen, purée, fruit fillings, freeze-dried and dried formats, elevating both flavour profiles and visual appeal.In the Bread Competition, ICI Noida secured the top position, followed by IHM Shimla in second place and IHM Pusa in third. In the Petit Fours category, ICI Noida once again emerged victorious with IHM Yamunanagar finishing second and IHM Pusa third. The Plated Desserts competition saw ICI Noida clinch the title while Chitkara University secured the second position and IHM Kurukshetra stood third. In the Cake Competition, IHM Pusa took the top honours, Chandigarh University was declared runner-up and ICI Noida finished third. The Quiz Competition was won by IHM Pusa followed by ICI Noida in second place and Chandigarh University in third. In the Fondant Modelling Competition, IHM Shimla secured first place, Chitkara University finished second and CGC Landran claimed the third position.
In the Overall Championship standings, ICI Noida lifted the winner’s trophy, IHM Pusa finished second and IHM Shimla secured third place. The competition was judged by an esteemed panel comprising Chef Ashian Topno (Regional Head – Pillsbury India), Chef Guru Prakash Singh (Lead Chef & Bakery Application Specialist), Chef Satya Prakash (Executive Chef, Holiday Inn Chandigarh – IHG) and Chef Sandeep Kanoujia (Pastry Chef, Hyatt Regency Chandigarh).
