Men should prioritize their healthcare: Experts

Chandigarh 15 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : "Men often show little interest in consulting a doctor and ignore symptoms until health problems become serious. Many common urological diseases like prostate enlargement, kidney stones, urinary tract problems and prostate cancer can be treated effectively if detected early." Speaking on the occasion of Men's Health Awareness Week on Monday, Dr. M.S. Randhawa, Associate Director, Department of Urology, Max Hospital, Mohali, said that one of the biggest challenges in men's healthcare is late detection of diseases.

He said that many men ignore symptoms like difficulty urinating, frequent urination, blood in urine, or persistent discomfort. He said that early diagnosis and regular health check-ups can identify potential health problems before they become serious. Dr. Randhawa advised that regular prostate health check-ups and timely medical advice can play a vital role in ensuring better long-term health outcomes for men.

He added that adopting a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water and avoiding tobacco use, can help reduce the risk of several health problems. In Dr. Randhawa’s opinion, men above the age of 40 should undergo regular health check-ups and consult health experts if they notice any unusual symptoms.
