PSSF condemns lathicharge on sanitation workers in Barnala

Chandigarh 23 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Subordinate Services Federation, the state's struggling organization of employees, state president Satish Rana, general secretary Tirath Singh Bassi, senior vice president Karamjit Behla, and finance secretary Gurdeep Singh Bajwa, have said in a joint press statement that sanitation workers in the state have gone on an indefinite strike against the government's failure to meet their demands and breach of promises. Giving information in this regard, the organization's state press secretary Inderjit Virdi said that instead of resolving the demands of these sanitation workers through talks, the current Aam Aadmi government is resorting to heavy police torture on sanitation workers in Barnala, in which even women employees have not been spared. On one hand, the Punjab Chief Minister is condemning the lathi charge on the youth at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, on the other hand, a heavy lathi charge is being carried out on the sanitation workers in Punjab, for which the Punjab government and the Barnala administration are strongly condemned by the PSSF.
The leaders of the organization, Makhan Singh Wahidpuri, Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, said that in the past, the sanitation workers had completely stopped work by going on a strike for about a month and due to the pressure of the struggle, no demand was accepted in the meeting held by the government, due to which a call for a strike has been given again. They said that before Bhagwant Mann came to power, during his speeches, the people of Punjab were being told to question the previous government, but now that he himself is in power, those who question the government regarding their demands are being threatened and are being framed in false cases and thrown in jail. The leaders said that if any harm is caused to the striking sanitation workers, the organization will consider it as its struggle and launch a fierce struggle.
The leaders said that a large number of people from across the state will participate in the grand state rally to be organized by the Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front and the Employees Forum on August 7 in Chandigarh. On this occasion, apart from the above leaders, Gurbinder Singh, Anil Kumar, Kishore Chand Gaj, Simranjit Singh Brar, Gurdev Singh Sidhu, Karam Singh, Bobinder Singh, Pushpinder Singh, Jasvir Sira, Darshan Cheema, Jatinder Kumar, Nirmalok Singh Hira, Balwinder Singh Bhutto, Rajinder Singh Riar, Jasvir Singh Sira, Chamkaur Singh Nabha, Kuldeep Walia, Jaswinder Soja, Rajesh Kumar Amloh, Lakhwinder Singh Khanpur, Ravi Dutt Sharma, Sukhdev Changaliwala, Phuman Singh Kathgarh etc. leaders expressed their support for the strike of sanitation workers to the entire employee class. A request was made for full attendance in the actions to be taken by them.
