Chandigarh 2 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Ahead of the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched an ambitious public initiative titled “*Chandigarh First*”, aimed at identifying and fielding the best possible candidates from all 35 municipal wards of the city. Announcing the initiative, *CA Prem Garg, Senior AAP Leader and Chairman, Core Committee, Chandigarh*, said that the party has begun its search for *35 honest, educated, dedicated, financially independent and visionary citizens* who are committed to public service and have the courage to work in the larger interest of Chandigarh.
“Chandigarh deserves representatives who are guided by integrity, competence and a spirit of public service—not by personal ambition or political compulsions. We want people whose livelihood does not depend on politics and who cannot be influenced by money, power or pressure,” Garg said. He stated that the ‘*Chandigarh First*’ mission is committed to transforming Chandigarh into one of India’s cleanest, safest, greenest and most efficiently governed cities through transparent, accountable and corruption-free administration. According to Garg, the selected candidates will be individuals with a proven record of honesty, social service, professional excellence and leadership within their communities. The initiative seeks to bring capable citizens into public life and strengthen the quality of urban governance.
AAP has invited professionals, entrepreneurs, retired officers, teachers, doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, advocates, social workers, women, youth and other committed citizens to come forward and participate in this movement. The party assured that deserving candidates would receive a strong organisational platform and full support to contest the Municipal Corporation elections. Calling upon the people of Chandigarh to join the mission, Prem Garg said, “The future of Chandigarh cannot be left to traditional politics alone. Real change will come only when responsible, capable and socially committed citizens step forward to lead. Together, let us put *Chandigarh First* and build a city that becomes a model of transparency, civic excellence and good governance for the entire nation.”
