Haryana Rice Millers Protest Outside Food & Supplies Department Over ₹2,600 Crore Paddy Payments Chandigarh 13 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Office-bearers and members of the Haryana Rice Millers Association staged a protest outside the Food & Supplies Department on Thursday, expressing anger over the long-pending issue involving paddy stocks and payments worth around ₹2,600 crore. The millers said the delay has pushed rice millers across the state into a serious financial crisis. Those present during the protest included Hansraj Singla, Jewel Singla, Saurabh Gupta, Raj Kumar Gupta, Rajinder Monga, Balraj Deswal, Naresh Bansal, Ravinder Sharma, Naresh Mehta and Rampal Goel, along with other office-bearers and members of the association. According to the association, the millers have repeatedly raised the issue with the Chief Minister, concerned ministers and departmental officials, but no permanent solution has been reached so far. CPIM and CPI condemn attack on Sukhbir Badal
Chandigarh 13 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : CPI(M) State Secretary Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon and CPI State Secretary Comrade Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal have issued a joint statement condemning the attack on former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal at Gurdwara Sri Hazur Sahib Nanded. They said that such an attack on a political leader at a religious place cannot be justified.
Both the communist leaders said that this attack on the Gurudwara should be condemned in its entirety. They said that such an attack on a holy place where the welfare of all is sought increases the feeling of insecurity among the people and also raises questions on the security forces. The leaders said that to maintain the sanctity of religious places, concrete security measures should be taken to prevent such attacks.
