Overgrown Grass and Wild Bushes on Footpath and Cycle Track Near Hello Majra Light Point Pose Serious Safety Risk Chandigarh 28 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The footpath and cycle track along the road from Hello Majra Light Point towards the Ambala–Chandigarh Highway are currently covered with excessive overgrown grass, bushes and wild vegetation. The lack of regular cleaning and maintenance is causing inconvenience to pedestrians and cyclists and is also affecting the cleanliness and beauty of Chandigarh. Social Worker Arvind Singh has urged the concerned departments to take immediate action and get the entire stretch properly cleaned and the overgrown grass and bushes removed. He said that the present condition is particularly dangerous during the night. Max Hospital gives new lease of life to 17-month-old child
Chandigarh 27 August ( PDL ) : A 17-month-old boy, Omaansh Vashishth from Fatehgarh Sahib got a new lease of life after getting a successful treatment for rare autoimmune diseases at Max Hospital, Mohali recently. The child was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune blood disorder, Warm Autoimmune Haemolytic Anaemia (AIHA) after he was admitted with what initially appeared to be a severe intestinal infection. The kid was admitted to Max after suffering from bloody diarrhoea for 10 days, accompanied by a high-grade fever for 5 days. He arrived extremely pale, dehydrated and had jaundice, with an alarmingly low haemoglobin level, requiring immediate medical attention. All his symptoms initially pointed to a severe intestinal infection.
After detailed evaluation, the paediatric team led by Dr. Manu Sharma, principal consultant– paediatrics, diagnosed the child with AIHA, a rare condition estimated to affect roughly 2 in every 1 million children under the age of 20 each year, in which the body's immune system mistakenly destroys its own red blood cells. The child was immediately started on blood transfusions, antibiotics and medicines to control the abnormal immune response. Over the course of treatment, he received four blood transfusions, and his haemoglobin levels gradually improved.
The child recovered well, resumed normal activity, and was discharged in a stable condition after eight days of hospitalization. Dr. Sharma said, "Greater awareness among parents and healthcare providers about persistent symptoms, unexplained fatigue, and severe anaemia can play a vital role in ensuring timely diagnosis and preventing complications of AIHA."
