Big announcement of joint struggle: Employees and pensioners will join farmer-labor fronts on September 4
Chandigarh 1 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Today was the third day of the farmers' protests in front of DC offices across Punjab, demanding the burning demands of farmers and laborers. Meanwhile, making a big announcement, the farmer leaders said that on September 4, these fronts will be fully dedicated to the demands of the struggling employees and pensioners of Punjab. State Senior Vice President Jhanda Singh Jethuke, State Secretary Shingara Singh Mann, Jagtar Singh Kalajhar, Janak Singh Bhutal and other leaders targeted the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab. He alleged that the government is targeting leaders instead of resolving the long-pending demands of the employees. The leaders said that: - Employee leaders are being forcibly transferred far and wide. Employees are being humiliated through salary withholding and departmental actions. Appeals are being filed in higher courts against decisions made by courts in favor of employees.
Farmers and women leaders (Harinder Kaur Bindu, Kamal Barnala, Kuldeep Kaur Kussa) appealed to all workers, farmers, laborers, employees, students and small shopkeepers of the state that they participate as much as possible in these fronts on September 4th.
The following demands were mainly raised during the protest : India should be expelled from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the US-India trade deal should be cancelled. Legal guarantee of MSP should be given on all crops under the C2 formula. The efforts of the 'land pooling' policy being brought by the Punjab government should be stopped immediately. All senior citizens above the age of 60 should be given a minimum pension of Rs. 10,000 per month. On this occasion, deep sorrow was also expressed over the untimely death of labor leader Comrade Gurnam Singh Daud.
