Demand for running special trains from Chandigarh to Bihar on Diwali-Chhath
Chandigarh 10 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In view of the expected huge rush of passengers travelling from Chandigarh and surrounding areas to Bihar and Purvanchal on the occasion of Diwali and Chhath Puja, social activist Arvind Singh has sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Railway Minister and the President demanding operation of additional and special trains and improvement in the railway ticket system. Arvind Singh stated in his letter that during Diwali and especially Chhath Puja, a large number of people living in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, and surrounding areas travel to their home states of Bihar and Purvanchal to celebrate the festival with their families. Consequently, the availability of railway tickets has become a major concern for travelers.
He said that as soon as ticket booking opens, seats on many trains fill up quickly, and passengers face long waiting times. Even obtaining Tatkal tickets is not easy for ordinary travelers. He said that despite the festival season still being about 50 days away, tickets are still unavailable on many trains from Chandigarh to Bihar. Singh demanded that adequate special trains be run from Chandigarh to major cities in Bihar to accommodate the expected rush of passengers. He also demanded that existing trains be equipped with additional coaches as needed, and the frequency and frequency of trains be increased during the festive season.
He also urged the Railways to improve the efficiency and transparency of the ticket booking system and make the Tatkal ticketing system more accessible to passengers. He also urged that information about special trains be made public well in advance so that passengers can plan their travels in advance. In the letter, there has also been a demand to make special arrangements for security, cleanliness, drinking water and other basic facilities in view of the increasing crowd at railway stations during festivals.
Arvind Singh said that Diwali and Chhath are important festivals for sharing happiness with family and connecting with our traditions. After working hard throughout the year, people want to visit their families during these festivals, but they face difficulties due to the unavailability of tickets. He appealed to the Central Government and the Railway Ministry to assess the possible passenger rush and plan for special trains from now on, so that passengers do not have to worry about tickets and travel at the last moment during the festivals.
