Removal of four history papers by Panjab University is part of a major conspiracy: Comrade Sekhon
Chandigarh 15 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The condemnable move by Panjab University, Chandigarh, to remove four significant papers related to Punjab and Sikh history from the M.A. History postgraduate syllabus is part of a major conspiracy by the BJP government at the Centre to erase or alter history. Levelling this allegation, CPI(M) Punjab Secretary Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon stated that this decision has deeply hurt the sentiments of all Punjabis and history enthusiasts.
Comrade Sekhon stated that the history of Punjab and the Sikh community is a glorious one, replete with feats of valor. It exemplifies the spirit of protecting the downtrodden and making sacrifices while waging a resolute struggle against oppression and tyranny. It instills a spirit of struggle for rights and interests, serving as a great source of inspiration for future generations. Every nation has its own history; the history of Punjab inspires a fervor that extends to making the ultimate sacrifice for truth, rights, and justice—a spirit that likely strikes fear and apprehension in the minds of the governments of the day.
The State Secretary stated that Panjab University was established for Punjab and represents the state. The removal of papers related to Punjab and Sikh history from this institution reflects the narrow-mindedness of the BJP government at the Centre and its intent to alter history. He asserted that the people of Punjab would not tolerate such malicious attacks. He demanded that the Central Government halt the implementation of this decision and urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to respond to the issue and clarify the state government's stance.
