Left wing activists take out a massive protest march in Chandigarh
Chandigarh 2 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A case of treason should be registered against Central Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who is murdering democracy under the pretext of SIR and flattering his masters, as this officer has not only misused his constitutional position but has also conspired to divide the country again. These views were expressed during a massive protest march against the Election Commission in Sector 30, led by CPI(M) State Secretary Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon and CPI State Secretary Comrade Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal.
CPI National Secretary Bant Singh Brar, Senator Dr. Sukhdev Singh Sirsa of Panjab University, Chandigarh, CPI(M) State Secretariat members Comrade Bhup Chand Channo and Comrade Gurdarshan Singh Khaspur also participated in the protest march. During the march, loud slogans were raised against the Election Commission and the central government.
Both leaders stated that Gyanesh Kumar had murdered democracy by undermining the votes of 130 million voters under the pretext of SIR. They demanded that a case of treason be filed against him, and he should be arrested and immediately dismissed from office.
He alleged that the Central Election Commission, which should listen to every vulnerable party, is behaving like a slave to the central government. He said that as part of a scheme, people associated with a particular ideology are being targeted and their votes are being cancelled. Later, when they protest, they are asked to provide documents to have their votes restored. However, ordinary voters, limited to earning a living, cannot provide the necessary documents and are thus excluded from the voting process.
He alleged that all this was being done to benefit the BJP. He said that first the rules for appointing the Central Election Commission were changed, and then it was absolved of accountability in all matters. Thus, the Narendra Modi-led BJP government has hacked the entire electoral system.
He said that the BJP had previously made its alleged fascist character clear by refusing to provide voting machine records. A large number of supporters of leftist parties, including those from Chandigarh and Mohali, participated in today's march.
Both the leaders said that the action of the Election Commission has exposed the face of the Central Government and now the time has come for all the pro-democracy parties to go door to door and campaign to expose the failures of the Election Commission, so that this anti-democratic Central Government can be removed from power as soon as possible.
