Delegation from the Shiromani Akali Dal ( Punar Surjit ) meets the DGP
Chandigarh 6 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A delegation from the Shiromani Akali Dal ( Punar Surjit ) met with Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav at the Chandigarh Police Headquarters today. The delegation demanded an immediate expansion of the scope of the investigation into FIR No. 0149, dated August 21, 2026, registered at the Anandpur Sahib police station. Delegation leader Gurjit Singh Talwandi stated that this matter is linked to an alleged widespread conspiracy to attack the reputation of the Singh Sahibans and defame them following the *Hukamnamas* (edicts) issued at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on December 2, 2024 and fingers are being pointed at the SGPC—the body responsible for enforcing these edicts—regarding this conspiracy. Therefore, the scope of the investigation must be broad enough to uncover every layer.
Talwandi stated that in the new video evidence, the victim revealed she was "brought to India as part of a mission and promised money to accomplish the objective." These allegations expose the role of the conspirators and raise serious concerns within the Sikh community worldwide. Therefore, we demand that:- All electronic and documentary evidence (CCTV footage, call detail records, digital communications, visitor registers, etc.) be immediately seized and made part of the forensic investigation.
- The key conspirators, masterminds, financiers, and beneficiaries should be identified by reconstructing the entire sequence of events.
- An independent investigation should also be conducted into the alleged coordinated campaign on social media, which involved defamatory and threatening content.
- Sections of the IT Act (79A) and the BNS/BNSS (176(3), 299, 298, 61(2), 61(1)) should be included in the investigation.
Talwandi stated that this matter concerns the credibility of the Sikh religious leadership responsible for issuing edicts from Sri Akal Takht, and given its seriousness, we demand a comprehensive investigation under high-level supervision. Apart from Gurjit Singh Talwandi (Youth President), the delegation today included Advocate Balbir Singh Sevak, Media In-charge Tejinder Singh Pannu, Amarinder Singh Bunny Brar, and Jagjit Singh.
