Inauguration of work to lay paver blocks and repair lanes in Atawa village
Work to be completed in three months; issues regarding sewerage and parking will also be resolved : Jasbir Singh Bunty
Chandigarh 3 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Taking another significant step towards development in Atawa village, work on laying new paver blocks, repairing lanes, and improving parking facilities was inaugurated today. On this occasion, Sohan Singh of the village inaugurated the development work by breaking a coconut. Market President Vijay Kumar performed the ritual offering, while Bahadur Singh and Anganwadi worker Jagtar Kaur also participated in the commencement of the work. During the program, SDO Sahil Thakur stated that the target is to complete the entire project within three months. He mentioned that paver blocks would be installed for parking around the community center, which currently houses an Anganwadi and a dispensary. Additionally, the uneven and rugged lanes of Atawa village will be renovated to make them better and more convenient.
Former Senior Deputy Mayor and Ward No. 24 Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty stated that, alongside the repair of streets, the area's sewerage issues would also be resolved. He mentioned that the sewerage system would be improved through necessary repairs wherever required. Approximately 60 percent new paver blocks will be installed, while 40 percent of the old blocks—provided they are in good condition—will be cleaned, organized, and reused. This approach ensures the effective utilization of existing usable blocks and allows the development work to be completed in a superior and practical manner. Jasbir Singh Bunty stated that paver blocks would be installed for parking not only in the village lanes but also in vacant spaces outside the village, which would help alleviate the long-standing parking problem in the village.
He stated that continuous efforts are being made to improve roads, sewerage, parking, sanitation, parks, and other basic amenities in Ward No. 24, including Atawa village. His objective is to ensure that development works are not merely confined to paper but that their direct benefits reach the common people. On this occasion, local residents and ward members expressed their happiness at the commencement of development work, noting that the pace at which these projects are being executed in Atawa village and Ward No. 24 is steadily transforming the area for the better. They thanked the councilor and the concerned officials for initiating the work and extended their best wishes for its timely and high-quality completion. Prominent villagers and a large number of local residents were present on the occasion, including Pradhan Rajkumar Sharma, Beat In-charge Sandeep Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Suresh Kumar, JE Pradeep Kumar, contractor Ramandeep, Shiv Kumar, Desu, and Deepak Kumar.
