Chandigarh/Punjab 16 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Rajya Sabha MP Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss key issues concerning Punjab, focusing on the state’s development, progress and future prospects. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on Punjab’s priorities, the aspirations of its people and the importance of constructive engagement between the Central Government and the state to advance the state’s economic and social development.

Punjab, with its rich cultural heritage, entrepreneurial spirit and hardworking population, has immense potential to contribute to India’s growth story. Realising this potential calls for sustained efforts to address the state’s challenges, strengthen its economic foundations, attract fresh investment and create meaningful employment opportunities for its youth. Rajinder Gupta particularly welcomed Amit Shah’s announcement to make India, especially Punjab, Drug-Free by 2029. He assured his full support for this noble cause and pledged to contribute to the BJP’s mission to make 'Nasha -Mukt Punjab'.

The discussion assumes significance in the context of Punjab’s aspirations for accelerated development, economic revival and a stronger future for the coming generations. Greater coordination between the Centre and the state, along with constructive dialogue on issues of mutual concern, can help create an enabling environment for growth, investment and public welfare. His interaction with the Union Home Minister reflects the importance of engaging with the Union leadership on issues affecting Punjab and exploring avenues that could contribute to the state’s long-term progress.

This was his first meeting with the HM after joining the BJP parliamentary party. Punjab’s development remains closely linked to its ability to generate new economic opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship, strengthen infrastructure and harness the potential of its young population. The meeting underlines the importance of continued dialogue and collective efforts to advance Punjab’s interests, promote prosperity and contribute to the vision of a stronger and more developed India.
