Ranjit Mishra Seeks Probe into Senior Officials After CBI Raids in Alleged ₹1,000-Crore Outsourcing Scam

Four companies linked to one family under scrutiny; allegations of irregularities in annual tenders worth ₹200 crore for outsourcing employees and their salary payments

Chandigarh 17 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Allegations of financial irregularities in the recruitment, deployment and salary payments of outsourced employees in the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation have come under renewed scrutiny following CBI raids. CBI complainant Ranjit Mishra, president of the Education Department Group-D Union and the UT Chandigarh Subordinate Services Federation, and the complainant in the matter, addressed a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club, raising serious allegations and calling for a comprehensive investigation. Mishra expressed hope that the CBI investigation would uncover further details of alleged financial irregularities estimated by him at around ₹1,000 crore. He maintained that the investigation should not be confined to the companies concerned but should also examine the possible role of senior officials at various levels of the administration.

Mishra alleged that four companies linked to a single family were at the centre of the matter. According to him, irregularities are suspected in annual tenders worth approximately ₹200 crore related to the deployment of outsourced employees. He urged the investigating agencies to thoroughly examine tender procedures, experience certificates, employee deployment records and salary payment documents. Mishra said an examination of the links between the four companies and the documents submitted to secure tenders could reveal important aspects of the alleged irregularities. He called for an investigation into the possible involvement of senior officials across different levels of the government and administration. He further stated that documents and other available evidence could raise questions about the role of several officials. Mishra demanded that appropriate legal action be taken against anyone whose involvement is established during the investigation.

The CBI is reported to have registered an FIR in the case and conducted searches at four locations in Chandigarh. Documents were examined during the raids, and electronic devices, including laptops and computers, were reportedly seized. The examination of digital records and other documents is expected to help investigators establish the facts surrounding the tendering process and the role of the companies concerned. Mishra has called for a detailed investigation into the alleged financial irregularities, estimated by him at around ₹1,000 crore, and expressed hope that the CBI probe would bring the complete picture to light. However, the relationship between the annual tenders worth approximately ₹200 crore and the alleged ₹1,000-crore irregularities, as well as the overall amount involved, requires independent verification.

Mishra claimed that he had submitted a complaint to the Vigilance authorities in March regarding the alleged irregularities, but no action was taken as expected. He also claimed that action by investigating agencies began after a subsequent complaint was filed.

The status of the earlier complaint and the sequence of action taken by the authorities remain subject to verification through official records. During the press conference, Mishra reiterated his demand for a fair and comprehensive investigation. He said that anyone found responsible for irregularities at any level should face action in accordance with the law. The allegations against the companies and officials remain subject to investigation. The responsibility of any individual or company can be established only on the basis of the investigation’s findings and due legal process.
