Chandigarh 7 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On October 9, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) will participate in large numbers in a protest demonstration outside the Nakodar DSP's office. This protest—organized by farmers, laborers, intellectuals, artists, theatre activists, and democratic sections—demands the immediate registration of a case against Talwandi Salem Sarpanch Pardeep Singh and his associates, their subsequent arrest, and official recognition for the martyrs' memorial. The organization's State President Jaginder Singh Ugrahan, State Senior Vice-President Jhanda Singh Jethuke, and Shingara Singh Maan stated that on September 8, leaders of the memorial committee were attacked by a Sarpanch—emboldened by the Aam Aadmi Party—with the backing of the incumbent MLA and labor leader Harmesh Malri, in particular, was subjected to verbal abuse and casteist slurs. The mobile phone of the young man recording the video was snatched, and the video was deleted.
The Nakodar DSP recovered the mobile phone from them on the spot and returned it amidst the large gathering a formal written application detailing the entire sequence of events was submitted it was brought to the SSP's notice the DSP was informed, and an application was submitted at the local police station. The caste-based slurs, verbal abuse, and physical attack committed by Pradeep Sarpanch and his close associates. A case should be registered against him regarding the entire incident, and he should be immediately arrested and subjected to legal action. However, to date, no action has been taken due to official and political patronage.
An invitation is extended to everyone to participate in large numbers in the major gathering scheduled for October 9th in front of the DSP's office in Nakodar—an event jointly decided upon by intellectuals, writers, democratic groups, and farmer-laborer organizations.
