Balbir Singh Sidhu leads a massive convoy from Mohali to Sangrur Justice Rally, accompanied by buses, vehicles and hundreds of people
AAP government misled the people of Punjab in the name of change; people will bring Congress to power in 2027 : Balbir Singh Sidhu
S.A.S.Nagar 4 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Under the leadership of senior Congress leader and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, a massive convoy comprising more than 15 buses, over 200 vehicles and hundreds of people from the Mohali Assembly constituency reached Sangrur to participate in the grand Justice Rally held under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. A large number of Congress leaders, party workers and supporters participated in the convoy. Sidhu said that the overwhelming participation of people from Mohali and Congress workers in the rally reflects that the people of Punjab stand firmly with the Congress Party in the fight for justice, democracy and the protection of their rights. On this occasion, Balbir Singh Sidhu launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government, stating that the AAP had come to power by showing the people of Punjab grand dreams in the name of change, but today the same government has completely failed to live up to their expectations. He said that the people of Punjab have received neither relief from the drug menace nor any improvement in the law-and-order situation. Instead of addressing the genuine problems of the people, the government is misleading them through advertisements and political rhetoric. He added that Punjab's welfare cannot be achieved through politics of exploitation, intimidation and threats. Referring to the incidents involving Mohanjit Singh Sheron, Gulzar Singh and Parvinder Singh Jhota, who had raised their voices against drugs, Sidhu said that these cases expose the grave situation of drug abuse and law and order in Punjab. He stated that Parvinder Singh Jhota had openly raised his voice against drugs, but was shot dead in broad daylight. He questioned how ordinary Punjabis could expect justice from the government when even those who speak out against drugs are not safe. He said that ensuring the safety of people fighting against drugs is the responsibility of the government.
Speaking about the case of Gulzar Singh, Sidhu alleged that Gulzar Singh had been threatened and intimidated by Punjab Government Minister Harpal Singh Cheema. He said that before his death, Gulzar Singh had released a video holding Harpal Singh Cheema responsible for his death. Distressed by the alleged harassment, he consumed sulphas (poisonous pesticide) and ended his life. Sidhu said that this is an extremely serious matter and demands an impartial investigation so that the truth can come out and justice can be delivered to the bereaved family. He said that instead of evading responsibility, the government must ensure accountability in such cases. He further stated that merely raising slogans would not be enough to eradicate drugs from Punjab. Along with strict action against drug traffickers, it is essential to provide the youth with employment opportunities, quality education and access to sports facilities. He said that to save Punjab's youth from drugs, they must be provided with meaningful employment opportunities. The Congress Party has always fought for the rights of the people of Punjab, the progress of the state and a better future for its youth, and will continue to do so. Concluding his address, Balbir Singh Sidhu expressed confidence that the Congress Party would secure a massive majority and form the government in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. He said that the people of Punjab have now understood the reality behind the false promises made in the name of change and are looking towards the Congress Party with renewed hope to put the state back on the path of development, employment, law and order and prosperity. He also thanked all the leaders, workers and supporters who travelled from Mohali in large numbers to participate in the rally.
