S.A.S.Nagar 13 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Municipal Corporation Mohali's Sulabh Shochaliya and sanitation workers jointly held a big protest in front of the MC Bhawan and raised slogans. On this occasion, they burnt effigies of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann, MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh, Chairman SC Commission Punjab Jasvir Singh Garhi and Mayor Mohali Sarabjit Singh. Sulabh Shochaliya and sanitation workers arrived in large numbers and the leaders told the senior officials of Municipal Corporation Mohali, Mayor and MLA of Mohali about the atrocities being committed and appealed to the administration to accept their legitimate demands immediately. The protesting leaders said that before the Municipal Corporation elections, our dharna was made by lying and giving us false comfort that all our demands would be accepted, but when Mayor Sarabjit Singh sat on his seat, he reneged on all the promises made and on the contrary, the Municipal Corporation officials started threatening us. On this occasion, former cabinet minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and SC BC Maha Panchayat Punjab President Balwinder Singh Kumbhra along with their colleagues reached specially to support the protesters. Cabinet Minister Sandhu appealed to the Punjab government to accept the legitimate demands of these poor and hardworking people and said that now the mayor is also SC, the MLA is also SC and the government is also from the Aam Aadmi Party, now why are these SC people taking to the streets, holding protests. Why are their demands not being accepted.
Morcha President Balwinder Singh Kumbha said that while there is a government of brooms, the real brooms are rolling on the roads in the scorching sun to get their rights, but no one is taking care of them.
