Chandigarh Golf Association Unveils Pitch & Putt League Logo, announces India’s First Pitch and Putt League
Chandigarh 11 October ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Chandigarh Golf Association (CGA) unveiled the official logo of the Pitch & Putt League (PPL) and announced the launch of India’s first Pitch & Putt League at its premises in Chandigarh on Sunday. Organised under the aegis of the Indian Pitch & Putt Association (IPPA), the inaugural league is scheduled to be held from December 6 to 13 at the Chandigarh Golf Association course. Giving details about the league Shri. R.K. Pachnanda, IPS (Retd.), President, Chandigarh Golf Association said “The league will feature eight teams comprising 10 players each, with a total of 80 participants competing for the title of the inaugural Pitch & Putt League champion. The initiative aims to expand the reach of golf by introducing a more accessible format of the sport, providing aspiring golfers with a structured platform for competition, and creating opportunities for emerging talent to develop and showcase their skills.”
Munish Arora, Founder President, Indian Pitch & Putt Association further explaining about the concept “ Pitch & Putt is a shorter format of golf that focuses primarily on precision, short-distance shots and putting. Unlike conventional golf, which is generally played over 18 holes on a larger course with longer fairways and a wider range of clubs, Pitch & Putt is played on a compact course with shorter holes. The format places a greater emphasis on accuracy, touch and control, making it an appealing entry point for beginners while offering an engaging competitive challenge for experienced players.” Siddharth Kumar, Vice President, CGA further added “Through the PPL, CGA and IPPA aim to introduce more people to the game, encourage wider participation and strengthen the pathway for aspiring golfers to develop their abilities in a competitive environment. The league is also expected to help build greater awareness of Pitch & Putt as an accessible and exciting format of golf in India.”
The launch event was also attended by Puneet Sood, Treasurer; Karan Mahajan, General Secretary; and Sorabh Tayal and Sandeep Sarup Sehgal, Joint Secretaries of CGA. The unveiling of the PPL logo marks an important step towards establishing a dedicated competitive platform for Pitch & Putt in India. With its emphasis on accessibility, participation and skill development, the league seeks to bring the sport closer to a wider audience while contributing to the growth of golf at the grassroots level.
